Throngkiuba Yimchungru

My works are inspired by capitalist excess, topography, modernisation, transformation of culture and genetic mutation. My choice of materials primarily have household uses such as putty, CaCo3 (Calcium Carbonate),PVC adhesive, exterior emulsion primer, Acrylic, and enamel paint. I often create works based on an aerial perspective in order to illustrate the scale of the destruction, excavation and alteration of the environment and architecture however my perspective do changes. Through the process of layering paint and materials and chiselling away, I mimic this destruction in the direct application of my work – yet with the specific choices of colour, I aim to stimulate emotions and create a juxtaposition between delight and destruction, the many coats and colours holding the story of the environment and cultural transformation.
